OCTOBER FISHING REPORT

OCTOBER FISHING REPORT

So far, the early part of the fishing season has been really good and the fish we have been catching have been in great condition. We had a little bit of rain and snow early on which made things a bit harder with high and dirty rivers for a week or so.

During the school holidays I took my younger sister, Charlotte, and taught her how to cast a fly rod. She hooked and landed 2 nice rainbows on nymphs that we had tied together using Dad's vise and materials (cheers Dad!)

I also showed her where to look for trout in small streams and where to cross the river safely.

Dad and I have also explored some new water together which has been great fun!

We landed some nice browns up to 6lb on a mix of nymphs, dries, streamers and soft baits all of which Mark stocks at his shop, Southern Wild.

My favorite streamer has been Dores Mr Glister #6, Nymph #12 Fluro Orange Beaded Hare and Copper, Dry Fly #14 Para Dads Favourite, and my favorite soft plastic is the Black and Gold Berkley T-Tail.

The Back Country Rivers are now open so get ready for some more great fishing options!

See you on the river Tight Lines Louie “The Fish” Macandrew
