Care Instructions

Spot clean by wiping the outer oilskin with a damp cloth or soft brush. For a full wash, hand wash in cold water and hang to dry naturally in a cool, dry place away from direct heat or flame. Use Styx Mill Oilskin Wax Reproof to replenish the waterproofing. Avoid hot water, soap, detergent, bleach or other cleaning agents, and do not wring, spin, tumble dry or iron.

What is Oilskin?

Oilskin has been used since the 1700s, originally developed by sailors who coated fabric in linseed oil, tar or whale oil for waterproofing. Today's oilskin uses a wax-treated 100% cotton base — durable, breathable and weatherproof, and just as at home as everyday outdoor wear as it is on the job.
